Womanisfesto speaks to the reclamation of femme’hood through collective encounters of self through time.
The group exhibition repositions and contributes to the conceptual canon that wishes to manifest space for: divergence, contradiction, the godly and the unholy, the peaceful, silly, romantic, the champion, and un-surviving.
As these layers are revealed, we are introduced to a reality of hybrid experiences and relationships that surpass the historical placement and sum of our individual or collective traumas.
Curated by Keabetswe Boccomino and Courtney Koopman, WOMANIFESTO features 14 works by 6 female artists from Africa and the Diaspora.
We manifest a space to introduce the multiple forms of self and identities that are embodied and encountered in the lives and art of our artists.
